Rural Broadband in Wales

The content of a letter I recently sent to Farmer’s Weekly following an article they published about Rural Broadband.

With reference to your article “Long road to a better connection” (Machinery, 27 November), my family home in mid-Powys receives less than 1Mbps internet, and usually less than 500Kbps.

I am appalled at the attitude of the government and internet service providers towards rural internet users – we are treated as second-class citizens, forced to struggle with internet speeds more than a decade out of step with modern communication and normal internet use.

We have been told repeatedly, for years, that high-speed broadband will be in every house nationwide and yet, year-after-year, we are abandoned with little recourse but to moan and grumble and write to our MPs. It is like shouting into the Abyss.
